Padel Association of India Conducts Elections; Parth Jindal Elected President
The Padel Association of India (PAI) successfully concluded its first elections on Monday, marking a significant milestone in the formal establishment of the sport’s governing body in India. JSW Sports Founder Parth Jindal was elected President, Manisha Malhotra, was elected General Secretary, and Tathagata Mukherjee was elected Treasurer.
Speaking on his new role, Parth Jindal said he was looking forward to the responsibility and the opportunity to lay strong foundations for what is widely considered the fastest-growing sport in the world.
“It is exciting times for padel in India, and through the Padel Association of India we are keen to give the sport the base it needs to build on. The office bearers and members of the elected committee comprise a set of people who will chart a path that is sustainable for the growth of padel in the country,” he said.
The elections were conducted by an independent Returning Officer.
Digvijay Singh Kathiwada and Anurag Barmecha were elected as Vice Presidents of the PAI. Meanwhile, Vaibhavi Deshmukh and Ramit Tandon were included under the Sportspersons of Outstanding Merit category.
Shyam Utamsingh was appointed as the Chairperson of the Athletes Committee, while Tishya Sagar was appointed as the Secretary. Sanjay Madhukar Naik and Aarti Pratap Pandit were appointed under the Eminent Professionals banner.
